Philosopher Albert Borgmann’s 1984 book Technology and the Character of Contemporary Life developed some seminal ideas to aid in understanding how and why technology has become “the typical way in which one in the modern era takes up with reality.” In recognition of Borgmann’s passing on May 7, today’s Feature presents two interviews with him from our archives, discussing his books Holding on to Reality: The Nature of Information at the Turn of the Millennium (University of Chicago Press, 1999) and Power Failure: Christianity in the Culture of Technology (Brazos Press, 2003).
