November 22nd is the day on which many Christians commemorate St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music and musicians. In this special Feature, Ken Myers introduces several poems and related musical compositions that celebrate the heavenly gift of music and thereby honor St. Cecilia. The poets are John Dryden, Nicholas Brady, W. H. Auden, and Ursula Vaughan Williams, and the composers are Henry Purcell, George Frideric Handel, Benjamin Britten, and Herbert Howells. Also featured is an interview with organist and choral director Brian Dean Sousa whose ensemble, Musica Sacra Virginia, has just recorded one of these marvelous Cecilian anthems.
