The Feature presents a lecture by Dr. Ralph C. Wood — author of The Gospel According to Tolkien: Visions of the Kingdom in Middle-earth (2004) — about how The Lord of the Rings presents images of virtuous responses to evil. Speaking at Aquinas College in 2014, Wood focuses on how the powers granted by the One Ring — the Ruling Ring, Isildur’s Bane — have analogues in contemporary experience, temptations that need to be courageously resisted.

Aquinas College is a Catholic institution of higher education in the Dominican Tradition. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Aquinas College provides training for sisters of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, as well as serving a number of lay students.
