How does your mobile app deliver content that I’ve purchased, either as a member or from an old subscription?

The MHA app is available for Apple and Android devices.

The revised version of our app implements all of the features of our membership program, including the abilities to download audio and to keep track of a Favorites list that is synchronized with your account on our website. With this new app, we are able to expand the amount of audio made available to listeners and to organize our treasury more helpfully.

In order to get access to the content of your Library with the new app version — either as a member or as a listener with a traditional subscription — you’ll need to make sure you’ve activated your account at our membership website: mha-members.org.

If you have not yet set up a password at this site and logged in, you’ll need to do before signing in on the new app. The app will want you to enter the password.

The password that you used at our old site won’t work on the new site or in the new app. To set up a new password, click here to request an e-mail message that will initiate the process.

If you have problems during this process, or questions about your account, contact us using one of the methods listed on this page on our site. (Note: Since we have such a small staff, phone calls are not recommended!)

Finally, be sure to visit our Tips for App Use page for an orientation to the new app!

Happy listening!

With gratitude to Rev. Keith L. Smith (1941–2022)

In April 2023, we received a generous bequest from the estate of the Rev. Keith L. Smith, a long-time listener and supporter. Several months later, when we began exploring the possibility of developing a new membership website and app, we realized that Rev. Smith’s generosity made it possible for us to consider taking the biggest step in Mars Hill Audio’s engagement with its listeners since we abandoned the venerable audiocassette medium.

It was on those cassettes that — in 1994 — Rev. Smith first became one of our faithful listeners. Beginning in 1998, he made regular contributions to support our work. That year, he also purchased one of our ceramic travel mugs, now a rare collector’s item. He also purchased many of our extended Conversations and Reports.

Born in Britton, South Dakota, he graduated in 1962 from South Dakota State University with a B.S. in Political Science. Following work for his parents’ business, as a college librarian, and on a church staff, he eventually returned to academic study and in his 40s graduated from the Wartburg Theological Seminary in Iowa. He then served as pastor at two small Lutheran Churches in eastern South Dakota for about 25 years.

His generous support of Mars Hill Audio has borne ironic fruit: Keith Smith never owned a computer or a smartphone. As he once told his brother Curtis, “I don’t have enough time in my life to figure out how to use all these devices that are supposed to save me time.”

We’re grateful that in God’s providence (and God apparently does have a sense of humor) Keith Smith’s generosity will enable thousands of listeners to take time to hear the sorts of interviews he clearly appreciated for many years.
