Ralph McInerny (1929-2010), the author of more than fifty books, taught for over fifty years at the University of Notre Dame, where he was the director of the Jacques Maritain Center. In this Archive Feature, McInerny speaks with Ken Myers about themes from his 1999 Gifford Lectures, which relate how natural theology came to be regarded as pointless, resulting in a philosophical dead end. He argues for the philosophical reasonability of connecting moral with intellectual virtues and faith with reason, since we are whole persons, not just minds. Ken also talks with McInerny about his Father Dowling series of mystery novels.
