In this October 2024, lecture, Dr. Anthony Bradley argues that a recovery of Christian personalism is needed to counter the dehumanization, polarization, and tribalism of our day. He shows how the damage we inflict on others and ourselves when we don’t see each other as persons, when we place ideology above people. Bradley critiques those on the left and the right who attempt to read their preferred ideology into the Bible and who treat people as means to political, economic, or even evangelistic ends. Personalism calls us to love and care for others simply because they are people. Persons are not means to political, economic, or even evangelistic ends. Bradley calls for a recovery of a way of seeing and relating that seeks the flourishing of each person toward his or her God-directed end.
