Will introverts have an easier time adapting to the necessity of “social distancing” than extroverts? Today’s Feature dusts off interviews with Adam McHugh, author of Introverts in the Church: Finding Our Place in an Extroverted Culture (2009) and Susan Cain, author of Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking (2012). McHugh’s goal is to present ways for introverts to engage an extroverted culture and contribute to and participate in the life of the Church without having to sacrifice the qualities and gifts introversion can bring. Cain talks about the social and economic factors in the twentieth century that led to a culture that celebrated and encouraged extroversion and de-valued introversion.
