In a 2012 article titled “Pornography and Acedia,” theologian Reinhard Hütter argued that the contemporary plague of pornography is a symptom of a deep spiritual apathy. Using the historic analyses of virtues and vices developed most fully in the Thomistic tradition, Hütter explained how prayer and the pursuit of “spiritual chastity” are necessary resources in combatting obsessive pursuit of pornography. Today’s Feature presents an unabridged reading of Hütter’s article.
