In the Introduction to his 2001 book Christian Faith and Modern Democracy, Robert Kraynak notes that many modern Christians assume that Christian beliefs necessarily lead us to endorse liberal democracy founded on human rights as the only legitimate form of government. Kraynak argues that this assumption is rooted in some false ideas about the nature and purpose of civil government. This Feature presents an expanded version of an interview with Kraynak originally presented on Volume 54 of the Journal.
