A J.P. II Institute Partner Feature

released 2/24/2023

In a 1993 address, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger asserted that “culture at its core means an opening to the divine.” But there is, of course, more than one conception of divinity. This Feature presents a reading of a 2021 article by theologian Tracey Rowland titled “Joseph Ratzinger’s Trinitarian Theology of Culture.” Rowland summarizes the ramifications of Ratzinger’s confidence that a recognition of the Trinity is the foundation of any reliable and faithful account of the relationship between faith and culture.

This article was originally published in the Summer 2021 issue of Communio.
