Philosophy professor, author, and compassionate mentor David K. Naugle died on June 11th. In honor of his passing, we present two Journal interviews with him. The first (from Volume 60) was about his award-winning 2002 book, Worldview: The History of a Concept. The second conversation with Ken Myers (from Volume 96) was about his 2008 book, Reordered Love, Reordered Lives: Learning the Deep Meaning of Happiness. In this second interview, Naugle explains how happiness morphed from a deep and comprehensive theological concept to a political concept we could pursue as a nation to a superficial implication of the modern, sovereign self.
