Essayist and master of the Western literary legacy George Steiner died on February 3rd at the age of 90. Ken Myers talks with literature scholar David Lyle Jeffrey about Steiner’s life and work, focusing on his recognition of the mysterious power of language and his sense that the West was engaged in “a retreat from the word.”
