As the USA prepares to celebrate Independence Day, we launch a series of Friday Features exploring the subject of the true nature of freedom.  From a 2013 interview (originally on Volume 118), theologian Ron Highfield talks about his book God, Freedom, and Human Dignity: Embracing a God-Centered Identity in a Me-Centered Culture (InterVarsity Press). Highfield discusses how his book addresses those who doubt Christianity’s goodness, especially as regards modern assumptions about identity, freedom, and dignity. He concludes that true community cannot be established apart from a conviction of harmony and God’s Divine ordering.
