What happens when we ask a question? That’s the focus of Matthew Lee Anderson’s book, Called into Questions: Cultivating the Love of Learning within the Life of Faith (Moody, 2023). In some Christian circles, asking questions is regarded as a sign of arrogant skepticism or cheeky belligerence. Anderson argues that there is no necessary dissonance between confident faith and the asking of honest questions. This conversation with Anderson about his book is preceded by a reading of some excerpts from Paul Griffiths’s Intellectual Appetite: A Theological Grammar (Catholic University of America Press, 2009).
