Perhaps best known for his paraphrase of the Bible (The Message), Eugene Peterson’s less familiar writing deserves much more attention than it has received. In books like The Jesus Way (2007), Tell It Slant (2008), and Practice Resurrection (2010), Peterson (1932–2018) presented an incisive critique of expressions of Christian spirituality that had more to do with the spirit of the age than with the Holy Spirit. This Friday Feature presents an hour-long interview with Peterson about his understanding of the practical consequences of spiritual theology.
