From a 2002 interview, John Timmerman talks about his book, Jane Kenyon: A Literary Life. Kenyon was poet laureate of New Hampshire when she died from leukemia in 1995 at the age of 47. Kenyon had a great concern for the craft of her work. The resulting verse was characterized by a rhythm of solitude and intimacy, the experience of pain, and a longing for God. Timmerman describes how Kenyon’s faith guided her writing and shaped the concerns that are evident therein.
