Concerning the book of Lamentations, R. K. Harrison has noted that “Divine sovereignty, justice, morality, judgment, and the hope of blessing in the distant future, are themes which emerge in solemn grandeur from the cadences of Lamentations.” These attributes account for the use of this prophetic book during Holy Week liturgies. Many of the passages from this sorrowful text have been set to music, some of which Ken Myers shares in today’s Feature.
