Grant R. Brodrecht
Grant Brodrecht is History Department Head and Instructor at The Geneva School, Casselberry, Florida. His areas of interest are in political, intellectual, and religious history. He holds MA and PhD degrees in American History from the University of Notre Dame, where he studied under George Marsden and was a Pew Younger Scholar. He also holds an MA in Church History from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where he was a President’s Scholar, and a BA from the University of Northern Iowa, with a double major in history and philosophy. Brodrecht has been teaching history at The Geneva School since 2006, where he also developed and directed the Capstone Senior Thesis program and has been honored for his teaching excellence. He has also taught at the University of Notre Dame, Reformed Theological Seminary, and Belhaven University. In addition to his book, Our Country, he has written reviews for the Florida Historical Quarterly, The History Teacher, The Journal of Southern History, and Civil War History. Furthermore, he has spoken at the Organization of American Historians’ annual meeting and at the Conference on Faith and History. Brodrecht also possesses a diverse non-academic background, which includes serving twenty years as an electronics technician in the US Navy and Navy Reserve, working in management for United Parcel Service, and being an ordained deacon in the Anglican Province of America.
