Richard DeClue

Richard G. DeClue, Jr., S.Th.D. is Professor of Theology at the Word on Fire Institute, where he leads the Theology for Evangelists Community. In addition to his undergraduate degree in theology (Belmont Abbey College), he earned three ecclesiastical degrees in theology at the Catholic University of America. He specializes in systematic theology with particular interest and expertise in the thought of Joseph Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI. He has published articles in peer-review journals such as Communion: International Catholic ReviewNova et Vetera (English Edition), and Pro Ecclesia. He is a regular contributor to Evangelization & Culture, the Journal of the Word on Fire Institute. Dr. DeClue also wrote the entry on “Eucharistic Ecclesiology” for the Encyclopedia of Catholic Theology. He is the author of The Mind of Benedict XVI: A Theology of Communion (2024). He regularly speaks at conferences — academic and popular — on a wide variety of topics.
